Course Overview


SHATEC Institutes Pte Ltd (UEN: 198301550C) is also an appointed CET Centre by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) for courses supported by SkillsFuture Credits (SFC) and/or SkillsFuture Funding for Singaporean and Permenant Resident (Local Student). Local students who are eligible for funding are also eligible to collect their Statement of Attainment (SOA) and Full Certification upon completion of the respective Skillcodes.

The funding support period is from 3 December 2022 to 30 September 2025.

Admission Requirements


*All applicants must be at least 17 years old and meet the following minimum entry requirements.
  • Minimum 3 GCE ‘N’ Level  OR  WPLN 5  OR  WSQ Higher Certificate in Tourism  OR  NITEC  OR  Qualifications of equivalent standard may be recognised on a case-to-case basis
  •  At least one of the following proficiency levels in English: Pass in GCE ‘N’ Level English  OR  Pass in WPLN 5  OR  Pass in SHATEC English Test
  • Minimum 2-year relevant work experience

  • Successful Interview

  • International applicants must have a valid work pass throughout the entire duration of the course

Programme Outline


Programme Competencies

This WSQ Diploma in Tourism (Events Management and Operations) comprehensive programme focuses on developing the strong fundamental knowledge and skills required of a MICE event planner. From planning event logistics to designing and setting up a hybrid or virtual events, students will prove themselves competent for the exciting and fast-paced environment of the MICE sector.

At the end of the Diploma course, students will be able to:
• Develop resource allocation plans and implementation of strategies and policies;
• Evaluate strategies for critical business functions to ensure plans are realistic and reflect health of business;
• Develop relationships, engage relevant stakeholders and facilitate alignment of stakeholders’ and project objectives;
• Manage implementation of integrated plans for events to ensure cohesive planning;
• Manage budgeting and forecasting for annual financial and business planning within the business unit;
• Execute digital marketing campaigns across different marketing channels to promote online presence;
• Conduct negotiations to establish win-win outcomes for the organisation.

Certification

Students who have successfully completed the programme will be awarded the
Diploma in Tourism (Events Management and Operations) by SkillsFuture Singapore.

Important Notice:

  • Course fees payable include essential training items.
  • All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit to pay for any SSG-approved training course in SHATEC. Those eligible for the SkillsFuture Credit Top-Up can apply their combined SkillsFuture Credit (including both the initial and top-up amounts) along with the Additional SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career) to offset the net course fees for selected SCTP courses.
  • Singaporeans aged 40 and above can receive up to 90% fee support through the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MES), with an additional 5% available for jobseekers with greater needs, if they meet any of the following conditions:
    - Long-term unemployed (unemployed for six months or more); or
    - Receiving financial assistance, such as ComCare, Short-to-Medium Term Assistance (SMTA), or Workfare Income Supplement (WIS); or
    - Persons with Disabilities.

  • Singaporeans aged 30 and below may utilise the available funds in their Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) to offset the total net course fee payable.
  • The SkillsFuture Enhanced Training Support for SMEs (ETSS) provides additional support through higher course fee subsidies. SMEs can receive up to 90% funding for course fees when sponsoring their employees to attend any SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)-approved courses. Additionally, SSG has introduced a fixed Absentee Payroll (AP) rate of $4.50 per hour, with a yearly cap of $100,000 on AP funding per organisation.
  • NTUC members enjoy 50% unfunded* course fee support for up to $250 each year when they sign up for courses supported under UTAP. NTUC members aged 40 and above will receive increased funding support from $250 to $500.

* Unfunded course fee refers to the balance course fee payable after applicable government subsidy.

Miscellaneous fees refer to any non-compulsory and non-standard fees which the student will pay only where applicable.
