SHATEC's very own Rabbit's Foot Garden has become an experience space for our hospitality, culinary and pastry students, fostering a community of avid gardeners and environmentally conscious individuals. Forming part of their weekly Course Tutor Interaction Sessions (CTIS), hospitality students from DHA-05-22A, DHA-05-22B and DHA-01-23H had the opportunity to tend to the garden during this time!

Maintaining the garden in various ways such as watering, weeding and pruning helped build teamwork and cohesion among the classes, while they were surrounded by verdant foliage from a wide variety of plants, such as celery, spring onion, radish, eggplant, tomato, aloe vera, bird of paradise and a collection of herbs.

When shown that the school's garden can serve as a first-step solution towards a self-sustaining community, from harvesting resources to creating farm-to-bar beverages or plant-forward dishes, students build a deeper understanding of what it means to be food resilient!
